Mental Health First Aid Training

Bonnie Chew is an experienced Master Mental Health First Aid Instructor delivering Standard Mental Health First Aid, as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mental Health First Aid training.

Mental Health First Aid courses teach participants about the different types of mental illness. It also uses a practical, skills-based action plan approach so you can learn the skills to assess and respond to someone experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis.

The course also helps people to learn about the types of help and supports available and how to help someone access the support they need.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mental Health First Aid Training

This course is designed to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults who:

  • are developing a mental health problem
  • are experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem
  • are in a mental health crisis;
  • need initial mental health first aid to be administered until appropriate professional help is received, or the crisis resolves.

This training is based on evidence from the expert consensus of Aboriginal mental health professionals. This includes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples who have lived experience of mental health problems.

When you work with Mirriyu, this contributes to your Aboriginal procurement targets.
